Requirements

  • Associate's or Vocational degree Physical Therapy Assistant, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or other health related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science or Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days)
  • Lifeguard Certification from American Red Cross within 2 weeks of hire required

Nice To Haves

  • ACSM Certification – Inclusive Fitness Trainer or Certified Exercise Physiologist preferred
  • 0 to 2 years experience in teaching aquatic skills

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and assists clients with aquatic, fitness and activity based and locomotive exercise (ABLE) programs.
  • Conducts 1:1 instruction and hands-on assistance to clients.
  • Monitors clients' progress and makes program changes to facilitate clients' maximum independence and achieve fitness goals.
  • Manages and supervises program members during fitness time, provide assistance and coaching on proper exercise technique.
  • Responds to emergency situations so that Emergency Action Plan is effectively carried out.
  • Maintains a safe environment for all clients
  • May support ABLE assessments and exercise programs.
  • May provide lifeguarding if fitness program is aquatic.
  • May perform aquatics and fitness assessments and design exercise programs.
  • Completes necessary documentation
  • Performs administrative tasks
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable legal requirements and accreditation standards
  • Other duties as assigned.
