About The Position

As a Fish Processing Quality Control & Sanitation Supervisor will provide leadership to food safety, product quality and sanitation programs with proactive customer service and operational excellence. This position takes a cross-department view to accountability for delivery on food quality, safety and sanitation objectives. Applicants for this role must be available for an in-person interview at our office located in Tofino, BC and must be willing to relocate to Tofino, BC should they be accepted for the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science required or related education.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a food processing plant and performing or supervising cleaning and sanitation work.
  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) experience designing and managing a plan across departments.
  • Experience in food processing of an animal product including food quality and safety standards from implementation through audits to corrective actions
  • Strong understanding of cleaning and sanitizing procedures, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals and sanitizing agents.
  • Experience leading teams to achieve objectives through effective delegation, performance management and promotion of a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet production, sanitation, and quality objectives through effective cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to monitor and adjust cost control initiatives tied to strategic budgeting.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks as required, including working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Plant Manager in delivering a safe, efficient, and cost-effective food safety, quality, and sanitation program.
  • Lead and develop Quality Control and Sanitation teams to achieve short- and long-term performance goals.
  • Oversee and maintain the Preventive Control Plan (PCP) and Export Certification Control Program (ECCP), ensuring full compliance with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all product testing, monitoring, sanitation, and documentation activities are completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Coordinate plant audits, certifications, and customer inspections, maintaining compliance with global standards (CFIA, FDA, ISO, BAP, etc.).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety, product quality, operational efficiency, and cost control.
  • Collaborate with production teams to support scheduling and ensure sanitation activities enable efficient daily operations.
  • Promote a strong culture of food safety, quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering accountability, professionalism, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Monitor program performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide regular updates and recommendations to the Plant Manager.
