The Fish and Invertebrates Intern program provides hands-on animal training experience with the Fish & Invertebrates team. Interns are assigned for the semester to one gallery or team: Ocean Voyager, Sharks, River Scout/Discovery Zone, or Tropical Diver/Coldwater. Working directly with aquarists, interns support daily care of the collection and learn foundational animal-care practices. The internship provides experience in feeding, animal handling, record-keeping, and general husbandry for large and small aquatic exhibits; water quality and life-support components; exhibit, component, and equipment maintenance; and behavior management, enrichment, and animal training for fishes in human care. It is an experience-based, paid internship intended to provide students with applied experience and professional connections. The schedule is five days per week, averaging 35–40 hours, and may include weekends and holidays.
