About The Position

The Prince William–Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC) is seeking a Fiscal Technician (Inmate Accounts Clerk) to join a team responsible for maintaining the financial records of incarcerated individuals. The candidate selected will perform a variety of routine accounting operations to ensure completeness and accuracy of data. The ADC is an accredited public safety agency dedicated to providing secure, safe, and humane services for the citizens of Prince William County, the City of Manassas, and the City of Manassas Park. With approximately 400 employees, the ADC’s mission is to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for inmates while supporting the justice system and protecting the community. The agency values professionalism, integrity, and accountability in every aspect of its operation.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge general accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to self-audit.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with computers and necessary software programs used by the ADC.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 1 year of related experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a criminal history background investigation to include fingerprint and driving record check.
  • Must pass a polygraph examination.
  • Must pass a pre-employment medical assessment.

  • Demonstrated experience in cash handling
  • Experience working in the accounting field, preferably within a government environment

Responsibilities

  • Reviews financial information and documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable policies and procedures and audit standards.
  • Daily cash handling responsibilities to include counting currency and coin, money orders and certified checks and credit card batch deposits.
  • Make withdrawal transactions on individual inmate accounts.
  • Audit accounts, research discrepancies and make corrections as needed.
  • Performs routine clerical, scanning and filing duties.
  • Provides excellent customer service to include resolving issues and responding verbally and in writing to various requests and inquiries.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
