About The Position

Washington State University's Finance & Business Services department is now accepting applications for a Fiscal Technician 2 to support our Payroll Services unit. As a Fiscal Technician 2, your primary function is to perform ongoing, routine and repetitive fiscal tasks both in a manual and automated payroll system. You will compile and compute payroll data from a variety of source documents such as Time Reports, Personnel Action Forms, withholding forms, etc. In this role you will also prepare, review, verify and process payroll documents under tight deadlines to help process a semi-monthly payroll. Strong communication skills are required to request information or help resolve discrepancies and you should have the ability to pay attention to detail and work accurately with numbers. You should also be prepared and comfortable working as a member of a team. Mandatory overtime may be required at certain times during the year.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent; one year of general clerical or fiscal experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and work accurately with numbers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work additional hours or overtime including possible nights, weekends and/or holidays to meet deadlines during peak workload situations.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.
