About The Position

The Fiscal Support Supervisor/Expert is responsible for overseeing a team of fiscal support specialists or coordinators and ensuring that all fiscal operations are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position combines expertise in fiscal operations with leadership responsibilities, offering guidance and supervision to staff in day-to-day tasks. The Financial Section Manager is responsible for coordinating the acquisition of supplies and equipment, planning distribution of purchase requests, and monitoring vendor activities. Review and approval of procurement activities for the Division of Children and Families. These activities include review and approval of all requests from the areas and central office for commodities and services through purchase order or p-card. Supervises a subordinate staff involved in purchasing activities by interviewing, hiring, training, work assignments and evaluating job performance. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Requirements

  • Experience in state purchasing laws and regulations
  • Experience in state financial reporting
  • Proficiency in basic personal computer skills and the use of AASIS Financial System, Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in fiscal management or accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of state fiscal policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Expertise in accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team effectively.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising a team is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise fiscal support staff in daily operations.
  • Ensure that fiscal support services, including billing, payments, and accounting functions, are completed correctly.
  • Provide technical expertise in resolving complex fiscal issues.
  • Assist in the training and development of team members.
  • Review and approve financial reports, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Act as a liaison between other departments and the fiscal support team.
  • Coordinating the acquisition of supplies and equipment.
  • Planning distribution of purchase requests.
  • Monitoring vendor activities.
  • Review and approval of procurement activities for the Division of Children and Families.
