About The Position

Eliada Homes is a mission-driven non-profit agency in Asheville dedicated to helping children succeed by providing a cradle-to-career continuum of services for over 400 children and youth annually. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on young lives. The Fiscal Manager (Accounting & Grants) is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and grant management, ensuring that financial processes effectively support the organization's operations. This position involves managing the monthly close, conducting financial and budget analysis, and preparing for audits. The Fiscal Manager will collaborate closely with the CFO to maintain strong internal controls, efficiency, and compliance. This role includes supervising two direct reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience overseeing accounting operations and supporting organizational processes.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Medicaid billing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly close process, including review of transactional data, reconciliations, and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Review general ledger account reconciliations and analyze reserves to ensure compliance with accounting standards, grant requirements, and internal controls.
  • Supervise accounting, billing, and accounts payable staff; ensure financial and billing processes operate efficiently and support day-to-day operations.
  • Perform financial and comparative analysis on payroll, accounts payable, and billing data; identify variances and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Oversee insurance and third-party billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer requirements; Medicaid billing experience preferred.
  • Prepare and review required financial reports, including monthly financial statements, federal and state grant reports, and sales tax filings.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.
  • Support budget development, monitoring, and financial reporting.
  • Conduct internal audits or financial reviews as directed by the CFO.
  • Participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process.
