About The Position

The Fiscal Intermediary Associate plays a crucial role in supporting individuals and brokers through the self-direction process. This position involves explaining fiscal procedures and waiver documentation, serving as a liaison between various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The associate will monitor budgets, provide quality assurance, conduct reviews of Life Plans, and assist with record keeping and data entry. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a positive work environment and ensuring understanding of changes in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in related field.
  • Must have proficient verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer programs (Including all Windows program, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel).
  • Must be able to understand and process financial reporting.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license.
  • This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services, therefore, is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities).

Responsibilities

  • Work with people we support and brokers to initiate and complete the self-direction process.
  • Explain all fiscal procedures and required waiver documentation to people we support and their families; such as the hiring and training of staff.
  • Provide the Self-Direction individuals with copies of all written policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between the person and their family, broker, and OPWDD.
  • Monitor the person’s budget utilization and perform monthly financial statement oversight, review utilization, communicate overages and trends to support broker providing ongoing review.
  • Provide quality assurance and administrative support working with individuals and their families.
  • Perform OPWDD and compliance reviews of Life Plans
  • Attend Life Plan meetings semi-annually representing the Fiscal Intermediary, assessing satisfaction of services and financial budget oversight.
  • Assist with record keeping, gathering required documentation for Community Hab/FI services, and providing follow up as needed.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry and entering information into CHOICES system
  • Completes all assignments in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of statistical data
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
  • Ensure understanding of changes in the field
  • Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.
