About The Position

This position offers the opportunity to support the financial operations that help DCYF deliver critical services to children, youth, and families across Region 4. Working closely with the Regional Business Operations team, you will perform professional accounting and financial analysis, help manage regional budgets, and ensure sound fiscal practices for multiple offices and facilities serving more than 1,000 employees. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with state policies and accounting standards, and contributing to the effective stewardship of public resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree AND one (1) year of relevant professional experience OR Equivalent education/experience totaling five (5) years.

  • Professional experience may substitute for education.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in a financial related field.
  • Certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares accruals, reviews and inputs accrual batches for operations and bills, to include client and program specific items.
  • Research expenditures and track expenditures to assist with fiscal year estimates.
  • Prepare/coordinate responses to audit findings and Corrective Action Plans.
  • Verifies that the billing and A-19 meets the terms of the contract.
  • Maintain a contract/vendor log to track contract payments and analyze expenditures.
  • Performs fiscal monitoring of various types of payments to ensure that the contractor’s billings are paid in accordance with the contract terms.
  • Monitors and submits timely payment for various regional goods and services.
  • Readies documents for payment by creating batches and processes into AFRS, reviews and makes corrections as appropriate before batches are released by the supervisor.
  • Research and process purchase orders in accordance with Department of Enterprise Services (DES) and DCYF Purchasing policy and procedures.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes expenditure data for monthly financial reports utilizing Enterprise Reporting and AFRS systems.
