The First Year Office helps incoming students make a successful transition to a new and exciting learning environment at the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. Our staff enjoy guiding and assisting incoming undergraduate students. We aim to give first year students the tools needed to make informed decisions during this transition period, and plan their remaining years at the University with confidence. The First Year Advisor – International Student Success, will be responsible for ensuring students receive accurate, timely and responsive advising and support on the unique experiences of international first-year engineering students. Working closely and collaboratively with the First Year Advisor, Intercultural Learning and Experience, the First Year Advisor, International Student Success will contribute to the improvement, monitoring and promotion student success initiatives within the first-year engineering class. This involves the coordination of pre-first year summer programming, academic advising, and retention programming. The incumbent will also be responsible for presentations and seminar facilitation on life and academic skills, training student leaders to support first year seminar courses and academic skills initiatives.
