About The Position

Service Market Logistics (SML), part of Volvo Group Trucks Operations, manages and optimizes service parts availability and distribution to ensure customer uptime. SML North America (NA) operates the Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Byhalia, MS, a 1.2 million square foot facility employing approximately 630 people. This role is for a First Line Manager – Outbound Operations at the Byhalia CDC and reports to the CDC Director. Requirements

• 5 years of experience in distribution/manufacturing or logistics required.
• 2 or more years of management/supervisory experience required.
• Proven skills in developing people; coaching and shaping a high-performing team.
• Strong leadership skills using an inclusive style of coaching.
• Significant change management experience with the ability to set demanding targets and motivate teams and individuals to deliver outside their comfort zones.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Proficiency in the English language is required as all documentation is in English.
• Must be flexible to work 1st & 2nd shifts.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, business, Engineering, or similar field preferred.
• Strong Knowledge in Lean Principles through formal training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages an allocated part of the Distribution Center in one of the operational areas (Inbound/Outbound/Mack).
• Manages Team Leaders and respective team members.
• Cooperates with colleagues and drives cross-functional work with support organizations to secure deliverables from an end-to-end customer perspective.
• Engages other Volvo entities and third parties for operational issues when required.
• Enforces rules and regulations as set forth in any collective bargaining agreement, local work rules, and company policy.
• Accountable for the inbound and/or Outbound operational performance in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment, People (SQDCEP).
• Responsible for improving safety and ergonomics in the area, including securing analysis and corrective actions for accidents or incidents, driving prevention through risk hunting and analysis, and increasing safety culture via regular GEMBA walks and safety dialogue.
• Secures built-in quality and works with customer feedback to constantly improve the quality of deliveries.
• Responsible for timely deliveries towards dealers (including refill to SDC/RDC) and improvement of internal lead times.
• Responsible for the financial performance within the area by securing efficiency targets and identifying improvement opportunities and realizing cost savings.
• Formalizes and implements best practices through shared learnings via networking and benchmarking (internally and externally) to drive performance.
• Supports all project activities as directed by management.
• Assists with attracting, hiring, and developing talent for new as well as existing employees.
• Creates improvement plans and challenges the team to achieve higher results.
• Establishes and develops strong relationships with all staff members.
• Ensures environmental policies are followed and maintained.
• Ensures compliance with all OD/VPS programs and communicates with subordinates as required.
• Supports a strong problem-solving culture with everyone involved in achieving operations objectives.
• Uses sound judgment to ensure the end customer is satisfied.
• Maintains compliance with company policy/procedures as required.
• Promotes the Volvo Group values and culture.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
