About The Position

The Maintenance First Line Leader is responsible for the management, coordination, and direction of a maintenance crew in a designated area, reporting to the Area Maintenance Manager. This role involves managing the daily activities of a maintenance crew in an operating area, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of all maintenance and repair work. The leader is responsible for ensuring quality work is performed by the maintenance crew, utilizing the Manufacturing Work System (MWS) process, and effectively managing available resources through efficient planning and scheduling. They must continually assess training needs of crew members, respond appropriately to off-shift issues, and manage the team's time and attendance, performance, and record keeping. Communication with operations regarding maintenance activities is crucial, as is working with operating departments to maintain optimum operating conditions and foster good working relations. The role also involves utilizing maintenance metrics to achieve crew goals, participating in the RCFA process, promoting integrated work between mechanical and electrical craftspeople, and using SAP PM and other automated tools to improve work procedures and preventive maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Supervisory experience necessary
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple projects
  • Proficient with Microsoft and SAP PM Applications
  • Active learner and ability to develop direct reports
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented team player

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance experience in a Pulp & Paper facility is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily activities of a maintenance crew in an operating area
  • Responsible for the safe, efficient execution of all maintenance and repair work in their area of responsibility
  • Ensure quality work is performed by the maintenance crew
  • Utilize the Manufacturing Work System (MWS) process

  • Continually assess training needs of crew members in order to provide learning opportunities

  • Communicate appropriately to ensure operations is knowledgeable of maintenance activities through the daily MWS and weekly planning meetings
  • Ensure daily schedule and weekly plans are posted
  • Work with operating departments to maintain optimum operating conditions and working relations
  • Utilize maintenance metrics to achieve crew goals
  • Participate in RCFA process
  • Promote integrated work between mechanical and electrical craftspeople
  • Utilize SAP PM and other automated tools to improve and update work procedures and preventive maintenance activities
