About The Position

The Private Banking Group (PBG) is establishing its first-line credit risk team to enhance credit risk oversight and activities across multiple lending products. This role is central to credit risk oversight, focusing on translating portfolio data into actionable insights and fostering alignment among risk, business, and finance stakeholders. While not a pure data science or model development role, the candidate is expected to be adaptable and primarily support ad-hoc reporting requests and assist in designing and building automated reporting solutions. The position requires a minimum proficiency in data and reporting, coupled with a strong understanding of credit risk concepts relevant to private banking lending products such as Securities-based lending, Tailored Lending, Residential Mortgages, and Commercial Real Estate lending. Success will be measured by the ability to leverage data and tools to define risk issues, guide decision-making, collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, utilize firm-approved AI tools, and influence outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial services with an emphasis on portfolio analytics and risk management.
  • BA in finance, economics, accounting, business, statistics, or math.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Solid understanding and experience working with databases and Snowflake.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and effective in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience presenting analysis or risk insights to non-technical stakeholders or senior management is strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees / certifications are a plus.
  • Skill using firm-approved AI tools to enhance analysis and productivity within governance frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience designing automated reporting pipelines utilizing Python or SQL is preferred.
  • Experience translating regulatory and underwriting standards into data-driven controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, organize, and transform complex data to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights and reports supporting credit risk decision-making and strategic projects.
  • Analyze and track portfolio metrics including originations, limit monitoring, KRIs, loan quality, and stressed credits by performing data analytics across multiple databases.
  • Support and drive the oversight, coordination, and management of stressed credit exposures across lending products.
  • Support and manage working group forums and risk committees.
  • Track progress on team initiatives, drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation, draft policies and procedures, map out processes, and build presentations and reports for senior management and regulators.
  • Partner with stakeholders across multiple legal entities, businesses, and financial and non-financial risk organizations to drive data-driven risk management initiatives.
