About The Position

First Merchants Bank is seeking a First Lien Lending Officer Assistant to join our team! This position will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of her/his assigned Loan Originator(s), establishing relationships with potential borrowers through lead self-generation, and in some cases by working with company-provided leads. This role will facilitate the relationship between bank and borrower throughout the lifecycle of the mortgage process and ensure all compliance guidelines are strictly adhered to. The First Lien Lending Officer Assistant will act in accordance with the corporate ethics policy and ensure all business is conducted with the utmost integrity.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative assistant or project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage products and programs.
  • Proficiency in standardized software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Encompass experience.
  • NMLS License.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for deal qualification using a variety of lead sources.
  • Continually identify, develop, and maintain a quality network of business relationships and serve as a recurring source of referrals for new lending opportunities to grow a portfolio of leads.
  • Interview loan applicants, collect and review financial and related information, and determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the specific merits of the loan request for purchase, refinance, and construction loans on residential real estate property.
  • Assure the appropriate reports are completed accurately and filed in a timely manner.
  • Organizational assistance to assigned LO(s), including planning meetings, calendar organization, and email communication assistance.
  • Keep up with educational requirements and maintain a working knowledge of laws regulations, programs and products.
  • Comply will all applicable federal and state compliance guidelines relative to the position.
  • Carry out such other duties as may be assigned or requested.
