First Grade Teacher
About The Position
The Miami Valley School (MVS) is seeking a passionate and skillful teacher for its lower school, specifically for grades 1-2. The role involves establishing a supportive and engaging environment, developing critical and creative thinkers, and integrating the MVS Immersion Method™ into teaching. The new faculty member will contribute to creating culturally inclusive and responsive curricula and be comfortable with diverse teaching and learning styles. MVS emphasizes experience-based learning, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and a mission to challenge young people to become self-sustaining learners and compassionate global citizens. Requirements
- Possess a desire to work with our youngest learners in an experiential setting
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Understand the Science of Reading
- Ability to teach explicit phonics instruction
- Undergraduate or advanced degree(s) in Elementary Education
Nice To Haves
- Ideal candidates will possess prior teaching experience in lower school settings
- Certificate in Elementary Education, preferred
- Candidates without prior teaching experience will also be considered
Responsibilities
- Teach a single grade classroom within grades 1-2
- Lead/Co-lead an Immersion program in January
- Develop and propose new Immersion programs
- Prepare progress reports
- Report to the Lower School Division Director
