About The Position

Holy Infancy School is seeking a First Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The teacher will be responsible for developing lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, creating a safe and conducive learning environment, and fostering student success. This role requires a commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church and adherence to its teachings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Teacher.
  • PA teaching certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise an educational program.
  • Effective communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Understanding of child development and ability to relate to students.
  • Understanding of employee supervision and communication skills to relate to adult employees and volunteers collegially, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy.
  • Ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, credibility, integrity, and self-confidence.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check (no less than 1 year old).
  • Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic subject instruction by preparing lesson plans, activities, projects, and assignments.
  • Evaluate student performances in class and on tests and provide feedback.
  • Identify materials needed to implement class activities/projects.
  • Maintain on-going communication with students and parents regarding schedules, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meet with parents during parent-teacher conferences.
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide an effective educational foundation.
  • Organize daily class time and develop weekly lessons with appropriate instructional materials.
  • Provide appropriate, detailed instructions/plans for a substitute teacher in the event of absence.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools to address student learning styles and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and update the curriculum for the classroom.
  • Evaluate each student's progress, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports and report cards.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters, including social media and online platforms.
  • Follow all Holy Infancy and Allentown Diocese policies as per the teacher's handbook.
  • Actively establish and maintain appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe, orderly, effective, and productive environment.
  • Uphold Holy Infancy School's discipline procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for assigned classrooms.
  • Maintain an orderly classroom stocked with appropriate supplies.
  • Supervise and manage students' behavior in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, etc., to foster a positive and healthy learning environment.
  • Attend all required in-service training meetings and workshops.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for educating students and foster their academic abilities.
  • Actively be involved in the school community, attending school events, activities, and fundraisers.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal.
