The First Cook prepares high quality foods for patients and non-patient services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of large quantity cooking experience.
  • Two years related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training in food preparation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
  • Prepares high quality foods for patient and non-patient services.
  • Ensures that all equipment used for handling and preparation of food is functioning properly.
  • Reports malfunctions to Supervisor/ chef manager
  • Maintains and verifies full compliance with OHSM/HACCP standards.
  • Coordinates the development of new menu items with the Chef Manager.
  • Utilizes advanced culinary skills to prepare specialty items according to established recipes.
  • Oversees and performs (when necessary) equipment sanitizing according to departmental and HACCP regulations.
  • Assists in the testing of all new recipes.
  • Relieves Second Cooks in patient and non-patient feeding.
