About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a part-time Training Services First Aid and CPR Instructor for the Raleigh and Durham, NC area. This role involves instructing American Red Cross classes to community groups at the Red Cross building and/or at community or corporate sites. The instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, submitting necessary reports promptly, and maintaining equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 1 year of related experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in education, adult training or service industry preferred.
  • Basic computer and email skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize MS Office programs.
  • Strong presentation abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment.
  • Ability to travel regionally 90-95%.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Access to reliable transportation to training sites.
  • Ability to stand and sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a small cubicle and sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification to be an instructor in discipline is desired.
  • Fixed availability schedule required during the day, evening or weekends.
  • Comfort and experience in using audio-visual technology (computer/LCD, PowerPoint, etc.) for educational delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers Red Cross Training Services courses within current certifications to businesses and community members.
  • Begins classroom set-up a minimum of 30 minutes before class programmed start time.
  • Maintains, manages, and stores all assigned equipment, including storage at assigned work location and transporting equipment in personal vehicle.
  • Re-orders all necessary equipment at least once per month and maintains and manages an active inventory of supplies at all times.
  • Transports, loads/unloads, carries and/or lifts equipment as necessary at assigned teaching locations.
  • Cleans equipment according to established decontamination guidelines and reports any maintenance issues to their manager.
  • Ensures quality, consistency, and standardized delivery of training.
  • Reports any violations to their Instructor Manager before going to Quality Assurance and Control department.
  • Adheres to the registration policy regarding unregistered students in Community classes.
  • Commits to a fixed availability schedule within the scheduling software, Skedulo, to meet teaching needs of the territory.
  • Engages in regular communications with Instructor Manager.
  • Actively submits unavailability requests in Skedulo when not available to be assigned to classes.
  • Adheres to policy when submitting bi-monthly expense reports and weekly timecards.
  • Submits training and course-related records electronically using the American Red Cross web-based learning center.
  • Uses the corporate email account (@Redcross.org) for all American Red Cross related correspondence.
  • May participate in Town Hall Meetings, quarterly All-member virtual meetings, Product updates, training requirement, certification classes, and approved development training.
  • May perform light logistics such as restocking equipment.
