About The Position

This role involves switching mode power supply development activities including firmware development, firmware verification, auto test program creation, prototyping, evaluation, and assisting manufacturing during the BETA run of new products. The successful applicant will participate in product definition, specification, and requirements analysis with cross-functional stakeholders. Collaboration on firmware architecture and development strategy, with a focus on wired and wireless networks, is key. The role includes designing new products, modifying existing designs, and improving products for better performance and/or cost. Responsibilities also encompass designing, coding, integrating, testing, supporting, and enhancing software solutions for power conversion systems, performing system integration and validation testing, and evaluating emerging technologies for reliable operation in various environments. The position involves architecting, developing, integrating, and delivering embedded and PC software in a regulated product development setting, participating in all project lifecycle phases, coaching junior engineers, providing technical direction and factory support, supporting prototypes and production products, and collaborating with remote and local teams. Participation in software qualification activities like SFMEA and code reviews, as well as system integration and validation testing including production/factory support, is also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Familiarity with software development (Microsoft C#, GUI).
  • Experience with Microchip, TI, ST microcontrollers and DSPs.
  • Experience interacting with software debugging in an embedded environment.
  • Experience in embedded system or signal processing algorithms (DSP) control.
  • Experience implementing & developing communication stack driver and networking physical protocols (I2C, SPI, RS-485, PMBus, Modbus, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Comfortable using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, etc.
  • Comfortable reading hardware schematics and data sheets.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (SVN), and release methodologies.
  • Disciplined and detail-oriented; experience delivering robust, readable code.
  • Experience in recreating sporadic types of issues/failures using various debugging techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience collaborating with remote teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or good understanding of power supply topologies and analog/digital circuitry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with digital control or firmware for power electronics a plus (PWMs, ADC, digital filter).
  • Some knowledge/experience in IoT, TCP/IP, Websocket, LWIP stack or freeRTOS will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with MISRA, IEC62304 or other coding standards will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Firmware development, firmware verification, auto test program, prototyping, evaluation and assisting manufacturing in BETA run of the new product.
  • Participate in product definition, specification, and requirements analysis working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaboration on firmware architecture and development strategy with a particular focus on wired and wireless networks.
  • Design new products in timely manner to meet the product spec, modify existing designs, improve existing products for better performance and /or cost.
  • Design, code, integrate, test, support and enhance software solutions for power conversion systems.
  • Perform system integration and validation testing activities, including verification of interoperability within overall solution.
  • Assist with evaluating existing and emerging technologies to identify solutions that will reliably operate in a wide range of installed environments.
  • Architecting, developing, integrating, and delivering embedded and PC software in a regulated product development.
  • Participating in all project lifecycle phases – from design and code development through unit testing, documentation, and release.
  • Coaching and guidance to Jr Firmware engineers in evaluation and design.
  • Provides technical direction to the team.
  • Provide technical support to factory on design related issue.
  • Provide support for power supply prototypes and production products.
  • Collaborate with remote teams and local teams to support integration work with hardware team.
  • Participate in software qualification activities such as SFMEA and code reviews.
  • Participate in system integration and validation testing activities, including production/factory support.
