Firmware Engineer - GPU

About The Position

The Firmware Engineer will develop secure, innovative boot software for GPUs, working within constraints on boot time and storage space. The role involves designing, developing, testing, debugging, and optimizing GPU firmware throughout the GPU lifecycle. The engineer will collaborate with hardware, software, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver firmware features, work with leading operating-system and PC vendors to improve startup experiences, and enhance build systems and regression infrastructure. This position is part of NVIDIA's GPU Firmware team.

Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of experience developing device BIOS, firmware, or other low-level software.
Familiarity with industry standards and specifications such as SPI, I2C, PCIe, UEFI, and PLDM.
Strong C skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with hardware designers and software engineers.
Deep understanding of software processes.

Nice To Haves

Experience with x86, RISC-V, or ARM assembly and knowledge of PC, PCIe, and UEFI architectures.
Background with display technologies such as DP, HDMI, and VGA/VESA specifications.
EEPROM, flash, and storage-device programming experience.
Experience with secure development techniques such as threat models, attack trees, static and dynamic analysis, fuzzing, and negative testing.
Passion for the work.
A sense of humor is encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, debug, and optimize solutions for GPU firmware throughout the GPU lifecycle.

Improve software processes and core infrastructure, including build systems and regression farms.
