About The Position

AMD is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to work as a platform BIOS engineer on server platform BIOS solutions for AMD server products. The role involves working with customers and internal development teams to help customers solve challenging problems and get the most out of AMD systems. The engineer will develop, validate, debug, and support BIOS and firmware on AMD server and embedded platforms, contribute to platform bring-up, and help resolve customer issues and implement features. Austin, Texas is the preferred location; Santa Clara, California is also listed. The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of server architecture, x86 processors, and other system components.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Expertise in the C programming language and hardware debugging.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of UEFI.
• Knowledge of RAS on AMD systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, verify, and/or validate firmware, software, and/or hardware.
• Consult with customers regarding AMD features and programming requirements.
• Provide BIOS and software support for customer server and/or embedded platforms using AMD solutions.
• Provide customer training.
• Develop, validate, and debug BIOS and firmware on AMD platforms.
• Work with customers to resolve issues.
• Work with internal teams to resolve customer issues and implement new features.
• Support internal and external platform bring-up.
