About The Position
As a summer intern on Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc.’s firmware team at the San Jose Storage Design Center, you will work on hard disk drive (HDD) technologies with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to meet product requirements. The San Jose Storage Design Center designs and develops HDDs and supports Toshiba’s storage needs. The group is described as relatively small and diverse, with a flexible and supportive work environment. This is temporary employment recruitment reporting to the VOLT Agency.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an Engineering degree or a related field, ideally with graduate-level coursework.
- Strong embedded coding skills with foundational knowledge or experience in embedded firmware design, implementation, and debugging.
- Self-starter with excellent analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with code analysis and development tools, including version control, compilers, linkers, and interface bus analyzers.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with interface bus analyzers.
- Familiarity with SATA/SAS protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience using MATLAB.
Responsibilities
- Characterize HDD read/write performance under various workloads through data collection and firmware analysis.
- Analyze test data against performance specifications, and report and review findings with the development team.
- Enhance and develop high-quality embedded firmware.
- Prepare design documents and conduct design reviews.
