About The Position

Responsible for the design, development, and testing of embedded software applications, including requirement and design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, deployment and documentation. This role involves collaborating with a broader cross-functional engineering team throughout the firmware development lifecycle, conducting feature analysis, development, debugging, and validation of firmware for various 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers. The engineer will also participate in hardware design reviews, train technical services and sales staff, ensure documentation compliance with ISO requirements, and solve problems using corrective actions and engineering change requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or Computer Science. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Development experience with Arm Cortex-M microcontrollers and tool chains, including compilers and debuggers.
  • Experience with MCU peripherals (e.g. CAN, LIN, USB, I2C, SPI, etc.).
  • Proficient in software, component, and interface design.
  • Ability to test/debug firmware issues using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, debuggers, emulators/simulators, and logic analyzers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of unit testing and CI/CD pipeline.

Nice To Haves

  • RTOS development experience preferred.
  • Practical AI experience preferred.

  • Ensure documentation of design work is complete and compliant with ISO requirements.
  • Solve problems and implement change notices using corrective actions and engineering change requests.
  • Read and follow SoundOff Signal Work Instructions.
  • Perform job consistently and without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
  • Other duties as assigned.
