About The Position

Toyota Material Handling Inc. seeks a Firmware Engineer II in Greene, NY, to directly contribute to software and firmware development projects. This role involves writing and reviewing functional specifications based on business requirements, writing code, documenting code, testing and validating, and supporting products in the field. The engineer will be responsible for the design and quality of a single module or component that comprises a larger system. They will also perform engineering analysis and design of vehicle systems ranging from basic to complex, using traditional techniques such as calculations, testing, evaluation, and computer-aided engineering tools. Additionally, the role requires extracting, transforming, and analyzing large datasets to generate actionable insights that support engineering objectives. Local telecommuting is permitted one day a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Two years of engineering experience in C or C++ for embedded systems development for real-time, safety-critical applications.
  • Two years of engineering experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and unit testing frameworks for embedded environments.
  • Two years of engineering experience in CANopen protocol and related communication standards used in industrial automation and vehicle control.
  • Two years of engineering experience in automation or scripting languages like Perl or Python for testing, tooling, and process automation.
  • Two years of engineering experience in development applications with ARM architectures for embedded platforms.
  • Two years of engineering experience in TI Tiva C series or NXP microcontrollers in embedded system applications.

Responsibilities

  • Write and review functional specifications based on business requirements.
  • Write code, document code, test and validate, and support products in the field.
  • Perform engineering analysis and design of vehicle systems ranging from basic to complex, using traditional techniques such as calculations, testing, evaluation, and computer-aided engineering tools.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to generate actionable insights that support engineering objectives.
