About The Position

DuraServ is seeking a Fireplace and Residential Door Technician to install gas and wood-burning fireplaces, ventilation systems, and garage doors in new construction and residential retrofit environments. This role requires reading blueprints, fabricating sheet metal components, interpreting technical manuals, and ensuring installations meet code compliance and manufacturer specifications. The ideal candidate takes craftsmanship seriously, uses tools correctly, documents work accurately, communicates professionally, and maintains a high standard of work without supervision. This is a skilled trades position focused on quality installations in homes.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work safely on ladders and residential rooftops above 20 feet
• Proficient and safe use of hand and power tools — drills, impact drivers, saws, shears, and related equipment
• Ability to work in residential homes at various stages of construction, including exterior settings and active job sites with other trades present
• Mechanically capable — comfortable with hand and power tools, sheet metal fabrication, and residential construction environments.
• Blueprint-literate — able to read and interpret construction documents, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Safety-conscious — able to work on active job sites, at heights above 20 feet, in interior and exterior conditions, and follow safety protocols.
• Code-aware — knowledgeable of relevant building codes and manufacturer specifications.
• A professional communicator — able to interact professionally with customers and explain work.
• Detail-oriented — capable of accurate documentation, parts tracking, and record-keeping.

Nice To Haves

• 0–1 year of experience in construction, HVAC, or a related skilled trades environment
• Familiarity with gas or wood-burning fireplace systems, ventilation, or garage door installation
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or technical manuals in a construction or mechanical context
• Knowledge of residential building codes and code-compliant installation practices

Responsibilities

• Install gas and wood-burning fireplaces in new construction and residential retrofit environments, reading blueprints, interpreting schematics, and following technical manuals.
• Install garage doors in new construction and residential retrofit environments with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal components for venting systems, chase covers, and other fireplace-related components using hand and power tools in accordance with manufacturer specs and company safety protocols.
• Ensure all work meets building code compliance and company quality standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and parts used.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, project managers, and team members.
• Work safely on ladders and residential rooftops above 20 feet.
• Assist with warehouse organization, inventory, and other duties as assigned.
