Personnel assigned fire safety response duties must be able to safely perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation: Emergency Operations: Rapidly respond to emergency incidents Perform fire suppression activities Conduct basic rescue and extrication support operations Assist with patient assessment and movement Operate emergency response equipment Enter and exit response vehicles quickly and safely Equipment Handling: Lift, carry, push, or pull equipment weighing 50–75 pounds Move or drag an adult patient weighing up to 220 pounds with assistance Advance charged hose lines and deploy fire extinguishers Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): On and off required personal protective equipment (PPE) in a timely manner Operate while wearing required firefighting PPE Operate in environments with restricted visibility and mobility Physical Activity: Perform sustained physical activity for 10–20 minutes or more Bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, twist, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions Climb grades up to 25 degrees Cognitive Demands: Follow verbal and written instructions Communicate effectively in high-noise environments Make time-sensitive safety decisions ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Personnel assigned to this safety sensitive role must be able to safely perform duties under the following environmental conditions: Extreme heat or cold Smoke or dust Loud noise Low visibility Uneven or unstable surfaces Outdoor weather exposure
