Under general supervision, to perform a wide variety of firefighting, emergency service and emergency medical duties; to perform fire inspections and prevention work; to perform special assignments as delegated; and to perform related work as required. This is the second level for City firefighting and emergency medical service assignments. Incumbents are expected to be capable of and proficient at performing a wide range of normal firefighting, emergency service and emergency medical duties. Incumbents are also expected to perform patient care duties as a paramedic. The Montebello Fire Department operates a specialized field-based paramedicine and social service program known as the Montebello Community Assistance Program (MCAP 56). MCAP 56 serves individuals and families with complex medical, social, behavioral, housing, and other needs that may require support beyond the traditional emergency response model. As a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Montebello Fire Department, you may be assigned to work as the Paramedic of the Day with MCAP 56.
