About The Position

The Municipality of Mt. Lebanon is accepting applicants for its civil service testing process for the position of Firefighter Lieutenant. Firefighter Lieutenant is a lateral entry supervisory position requiring substantial fire service knowledge, skills and background. Job responsibilities include supervision of volunteer staff, fire apparatus operation, fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, rescue operations, and hazardous material and emergency medical response.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years' fire service experience.
  • Must reside in Mt. Lebanon within one (1) year after passing a one (1) year probation period.
  • Possess Pro-Board OR IFSAC Firefighter II Certification.
  • Possess or be able to obtain PA DOH or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and Class B Commercial Driver's License within 12 months of hire.
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours of post secondary education, in any discipline, at an accredited college or university.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to acquire a minimum of an associate’s degree in Fire Science from an accredited institution of higher learning within three (3) years of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain Fire Officer I certification and Fire Inspector I within two (2) years of hire.
  • Attend the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Engine Academy I and II within three (3) years of hire.
  • Must not use any type of tobacco product through duration of employment.
