About The Position

The Firefighter Inspector/Maintenance Engineer assists the Fire Marshal with ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and Connecticut Supplement laws and codes for fire protection and life safety systems at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. This role involves a range of duties related to emergency response and fire prevention.

Requirements

• Connecticut State Certified Firefighter II
• Connecticut State Certified EMT
• Class Q or a Class “B” CDL with a “Tanker” endorsement
• US Citizen for consideration (due to security clearance requirement)

Nice To Haves

• Fire Department, Firefighting, and Rescue Service experience from a Military, Municipal, Airport, Industrial, or Organized Volunteer Fire Department
• Inspector or Fire Marshal experience

Responsibilities

• Structural and aircraft rescue firefighting
• Hazardous material response
• Confined space rescue
• Entering IDLH atmospheres
• Providing emergency medical treatment
• Participating in fire prevention programs
• Engaging in continuous improvement processes
• Completing written inspection reports
• Conducting fire extinguisher inspections
• Testing and minor maintenance of fire alarms and related equipment
• Inspecting, testing, and operating fire department vehicles and rescue boats
• Receiving and dispatching alarms
• Routine station cleaning assignments
• Other duties as assigned
