About The Position

The Logan City Civil Service Commission hereby announces the recruitment of eligible applicants for the purpose of establishing a hiring roster with the Logan City Fire Department for the position of Firefighter EMT Advanced. This position would afford the candidate of choice an opportunity to increase their knowledge and experience.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age at the time of examination.
  • Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalency.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
  • Must be able-bodied and capable of speaking and writing the English language.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or be eligible to work within the United States.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and reference check, and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be currently certified as a Utah and/or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Advanced (NREMTA) to be hired.
  • Must be currently certified as a Firefighter I and II, Haz Mat Awareness and Operations by the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy or any International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) accredited agency.
  • Must have a valid driver license.

  • Prior Fire and EMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of fire suppression activities at the fire scene, including laying and connecting hose, holding nozzles and directing water streams, raising and climbing ladders, and utilizing a variety of equipment including pike poles, smoke ejectors, and forcible entry tools.
  • Operating fire suppression and/or emergency assistance equipment.
  • Performing emergency rescue activities at fire, accident, or other emergency scenes.
  • Administering first aid at fire, accident, and other emergency scenes.
  • Performing fire safety inspections of businesses, manufacturing/industrial facilities, schools, and other commercial/public facilities to identify fire hazards, potential/actual fire code violations, and to verify locations of hazardous materials.
  • Talking with school groups and other City residents to explain fire safety/fire prevention practices and techniques and inform them about the functions of the Logan City Fire Department.
