About The Position

This position requires the ability to safely handle firearms and adhere to all company, local, state, and federal firearms regulations. The Firearms Compliance officer will lead the day-to-day activities of the firearms compliance function and be responsible for acquiring and disposing firearms and the integrity of the ATF required A&D bound book, and maintaining a complete, thorough, and accurate firearms inventory in accordance with all company, local, state, and federal firearm regulation policy.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and be eligible to sell firearms in accordance with all Federal and State regulations.

  • Knowledge of and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and basic office equipment i.e., scanners, printers, copiers, etc. required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Constantly communicate with others to exchange information
  • Constantly repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
  • Occasionally work in tight and confined spaces
  • Light work that includes constantly moving and lifting objects up to 25 pounds, occasionally move and lift objects up to 50 pounds or more (utilizing a team lift as needed)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Inventory Control procedures preferred.
  • Prior knowledge and experience with firearms preferred.
  • Stays abreast of all ATF and state laws / regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper completion of ATF required forms, applicable state forms necessary for background checks, certifying all potential firearm transfers for legality of the sale, complying with waiting periods or other possible state requirements, and preventing possible straw purchases.
  • Keep the company in compliance with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives by controlling and monitoring the serialized firearms and components.
  • Promptly respond to all ATF, or State Firearm Trace Requests.
  • Promptly file required reports as directed by local, state, and federal laws.
  • Responsible for disposing firearms shipped / transferred to licensed dealers, or stores, and for verifying disposition data fed from the electronic 4473 to the A&D book
  • Conducts monthly firearms audits for both locations.
  • Conducts serialized inventory for both locations
  • Contacts customers via telephone, certified mail or e-mail concerning necessary corrections
  • Working with customers to ensure our compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, including those promulgated by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives ("ATF"), as well as state and local laws and regulations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for interactions with the ATF and state firearms regulatory boards and agencies.
  • Properly assess value of, and log in, used firearms that have been traded in.
  • Keep record of used firearms logged in.
  • Keep staff updated on changes in laws/regulations
  • Process applications for Class III purchases.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
