About The Position

The Fire Systems Technician Seasonal supports the Fire Systems Foreman in maintaining, inspecting, and servicing fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and security systems across facilities. The role is responsible for completing scheduled work orders with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance with NFPA standards, National Park Service requirements, and Xanterra policies.

Requirements

  • Must show experience in basic plumbing skills, fire sprinkler, fire alarm and or security system installation and/or maintenance.
  • You must be able to communicate efficiently at all levels.
  • Must have the knowledge of National Fire Protection Association codes.
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of general repair and maintenance operations.
  • Must be familiar with the use of materials and equipment common to trade.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with safe driving record for the past 3 years. This position will also be subject to required DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must have the ability to input basic information into existing word documents and spreadsheet computer documents.

Nice To Haves

  • National Institute of Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) fire alarm systems or inspection and testing of water-based systems, Level I certification recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for completing all planned and scheduled fire sprinkler system work orders, ensuring quality of work, timeliness, and cost effectiveness under the direct supervision of the Fire Systems Foreman or Lead.
  • Assists with performing inspections and testing of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems and is responsible for logging and retention of all relevant records as required by NFPA and the National Park Service.
  • Assists the Foreman and Lead with installation and maintenance of security systems.
  • Assists with ensuring the installation of new fire alarm and sprinkler systems are in accordance with NFPA standards and that all work is completed in a safe manner and as per Xanterra’s policies and procedures.
  • Assists with coordinating fire systems activities with the Facility and Project Department, National Park Service, Location Management, and maintenance personnel.
  • Assists with reviewing fire alarm, fire sprinkler and security project designs, proposals, and installations relative to the service needs of the department.
  • Assists with receiving, storing, and shipping used batteries for recycling. Provide reports to Xanterra’s Director of Sustainability as specified.
