The Extinguisher / Range Hood / Fire Suppression Technician is responsible for performing inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of extinguishers, range hoods, fire suppression systems and related equipment independently. This role is fully functioning within core technical responsibilities and can complete standard jobs without direct supervision. The technician ensures systems operate properly, meet customer expectations, and comply with applicable codes and standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire suppression systems and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and complete standard inspection jobs without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Experience with commercial fire suppression systems and inspection compliance requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of extinguishers, range hoods, fire suppression systems and related equipment.
  • Inspect portables, hood systems, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.
  • Perform functional testing to verify proper system operation and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and supervisors.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, system layouts, inspection reports, and technical manuals.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete inspection work efficiently and safely.
  • Complete inspection reports, deficiency documentation, and service records accurately and on time.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
