About The Position

Fire Systems of Michigan is currently hiring a Technician Apprentice for the Fire Sprinkler division. This is a great opportunity to learn a growing and in demand and essential trade. Fire Systems of Michigan will train you to become a licensed, certified Fire Sprinkler Technician. We are looking for hard working and hands-on individuals that want to learn a new trade in the fire protection industry. The fire protection industry is in high demand, and it can be a long-term career with training, certifications and years of quality hard work.

Requirements

• A current valid driver's license with 3 or less points is required.
• Three years of licensed driving experience is required.
• Experience using a variety of hand tools such as channel locks and pipe wrenches.
• Willing to work varied hours, nights, early morning and weekend shift when needed.
• Must be comfortable working on ladders 6 to 12ft and on lifts.
• Ability to lift up to 70lbs.
• Ability to work overhead and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire safety codes.
• Learn and study about the different fire sprinkler systems in order to pass tests and become certified.
• Communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
• Write detailed service reports on work performed.
• Keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service performed.
