About The Position

Guardian Fire Protection is currently hiring Apprentices for the Fire Sprinkler division. This is a great opportunity to learn a growing and in-demand and essential trade. Guardian will train you to become a licensed, certified Fire Sprinkler Technician. We are looking for hard-working and hands-on individuals that want to learn a new trade in the fire protection industry. The fire protection industry is in high demand and it can be a long-term career that can provide a well-paying income with training, certification and years of quality hard work.

Requirements

  • A current valid driver's license with 3 or less points is required.
  • Three years of licensed driving experience is required.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools such as channel locks and pipe wrenches.
  • Willing to work varied hours, nights, early morning and weekend shift when needed.
  • Capable and willing to learn and study about the different fire sprinkler systems in order to pass tests and become certified.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders 6 to 12ft and on lifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs
  • Ability to work overhead and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
  • Skills to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
  • Skills to write well and be very detailed in your write up on service work.
  • Must be well organized and be able to keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service performed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the service, repair, inspections, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Support technicians with inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and standpipe systems.
  • Learn and follow NFPA standards, local codes, and company safety procedures.
  • Perform basic pipe fitting, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembly tasks under supervision.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at customer locations and company facilities.
  • Complete required training programs and safety certifications.
  • Accurately document work performed and assist with service reports.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements.
