About The Position

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Apprentice for its Ocoee, FL. branch to work in the surrounding areas. This role involves assisting in laying out, assembling, and installing pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for fire sprinkler systems in commercial and multi-family settings. The apprentice will perform all types of sprinkler work on-site, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing fire sprinkler systems and components, ensuring all work is completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with relevant codes and WAFS standards. The apprentice works directly under the guidance of a fire sprinkler service technician.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools.
  • Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow procedures and direction from the fire sprinkler service technician for the installation and repair of fire sprinkler systems and components.
  • Complete projects on schedule, within budget, and to required standards.
  • Follow the direction of the fire sprinkler service technician for the layout, assembly, and installation of pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Gain knowledge of fire sprinkler system operations and interpret blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Assist in the completion of service work orders, which may include fitting overhead pipe, carrying materials, ladders, and other items (up to 50 lbs.), including up and down stairs.
  • Perform maintenance and replacement work on system components, such as valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
  • Proactively notify the service technician of any issues, concerns, or changes on the job site.
  • Comply with all work and safety rules and proper safety protocols on the job site.
  • Load trucks with all necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Wear a clean company uniform at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the service technician or superintendent/manager.
