About The Position

1st FP Services, LLC is a privately owned fire protection company specializing in the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire protection systems in commercial and industrial buildings. With offices in San Antonio, Austin, McAllen, Waco, Houston, College Station, Lubbock, and Laredo, we are proud to serve communities across Texas with integrity, safety, and excellence. The Fire Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This position ensures all systems are installed in compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and company safety standards.

Requirements

  • RME-1
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction or mechanical labor experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 70 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in physically demanding environments.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the fire protection trade.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Install wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Cut, thread, groove, and assemble black iron, steel, and CPVC piping.
  • Install hangers, supports, valves, sprinkler heads, and related components.
  • Perform system modifications and repairs as needed.
  • Conduct hydrostatic testing and assist with inspections.
  • Ensure installations comply with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, including NFPA 13 .
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
  • Maintain clean and safe job sites.
  • Complete daily work reports and material usage documentation.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
