About The Position

Confires Fire Protection Service is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Estimator to join our growing team in South Plainfield, NJ. The Fire Sprinkler Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational fire sprinkler projects. This individual will work closely with sales, engineering, project management, and customers to develop proposals that align with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of fire sprinkler estimating experience.
  • Strong understanding of wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and special hazard fire sprinkler systems.
  • Working knowledge of: NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, Local and state fire protection codes
  • Experience interpreting architectural, structural, and mechanical construction drawings.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple estimates while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ServiceTrade, or similar fire protection software is preferred.
  • NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems (Level II or higher) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is a plus.
  • Experience estimating projects ranging from tenant fit-outs to large commercial and industrial installations.
  • Familiarity with design-build and negotiated projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and addenda to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for pipe, fittings, valves, hangers, seismic bracing, fire pumps, backflow preventers, and related materials.
  • Estimate labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material costs using estimating software and historical data.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare detailed proposals, quotations, and bid packages.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and present estimate summaries to management.
  • Identify scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and potential project risks.
  • Coordinate with design, operations, purchasing, and project management teams to ensure smooth project handoff following contract award.
  • Maintain current knowledge of NFPA standards, local building codes, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, engineers, architects, and owners.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits when necessary.
  • Maintain organized estimating files and documentation.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and project cost analysis as requested.
