About The Position

The Fire Sprinkler Apprentice assists with laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures, sprinkling systems, and industrial processing systems. The apprentice learns under the direction of Sprinkler Technician Journeymen and should be coachable and mechanically inclined.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to enroll in and obtain a current Fire Sprinkler License.
• Mechanical ability and basic hand-tool knowledge.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision under the direction of Sprinkler Technicians.
• Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, customer service skills, decision-making skills, ability to multitask, ability to meet project schedules, planning and organization skills, troubleshooting skills, and ability to train others.
• Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must comply with the company's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, which may include customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreements.
• Ability to consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to read electronic blueprints is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Sprinkler Technician Journeymen with installing pipe systems and valves.
• Cut, thread, assemble, and bond pipes and tubes according to specifications.
• Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, and fittings.
• Remove and replace worn components.
• Learn to follow blueprints to meet product specifications.
• Learn to calculate material measurements to verify specifications.
• Learn proper installation techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
