About The Position

The Fire Safety Technician is responsible for supporting fire prevention, emergency response, hazardous materials response, and fire protection activities within a lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility. This position plays a critical role in protecting employees, property, and operations through fire suppression, emergency preparedness, fire protection system inspections, and response to incidents involving fire, hazardous materials, medical emergencies, and other facility emergencies. This position is designated as an Essential Personnel role and may be required to respond during emergencies, severe weather events, facility incidents, and operational disruptions to support business continuity and life safety operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • 3-5 years of experience in firefighting, industrial fire protection, emergency response, military fire service, or related field required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Knowledge of fire suppression, emergency response, and life safety principles
  • Understanding of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and applicable fire protection regulations
  • Ability to respond effectively in high-stress emergency situations
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials response principles and incident mitigation techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented emergency response environment
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to follow established emergency procedures and incident command structures
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred
  • ICS 100 and ICS 200 certification preferred
  • Firefighter I certification preferred
  • Hazardous Materials Operations or Technician certification preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, utility, energy, or high-hazard environments preferred
  • Experience responding to emergency incidents and operating firefighting equipment preferred
  • Experience with fire protection systems inspection and maintenance preferred
  • Experience with hazardous materials response preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine fire safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential fire and life safety hazards
  • Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems including fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, suppression systems, alarms, and gas detection systems
  • Support compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Conduct fire risk assessments related to lithium-ion battery manufacturing, storage, and facility operations
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of emergency response plans and fire safety procedures
  • Assist with hot work permitting activities and ensure compliance with fire watch requirements
  • Respond to fire alarms, hazardous material incidents, medical emergencies, rescue situations, and other facility emergencies
  • Execute fire suppression and emergency response activities utilizing firefighting equipment, extinguishing agents, foam systems, and emergency response tools
  • Support evacuation efforts, rescue operations, and incident stabilization activities during emergencies
  • Coordinate with local fire departments, emergency responders, and mutual aid partners during emergency incidents
  • Conduct fire safety training, emergency response drills, and evacuation exercises for facility personnel
  • Educate employees on fire prevention practices, emergency procedures, and workplace safety requirements
  • Participate in ongoing emergency response training, certifications, and continuous development programs
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, emergency responses, training, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Ensure emergency response equipment, fire protection systems, and response vehicles remain operational and ready for deployment
  • Follow established emergency communication protocols and Incident Command System (ICS) procedures during emergency events
  • Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance and emergency response readiness
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
