The Fire Safety Inspector-Buildings conducts monthly fire safety inspections in all Residence Halls and at least once per year in all other University-owned buildings. This involves checking for fire safety violations, writing reports, and working to resolve identified issues. All work is submitted to the Fire Safety Officer or Specialist, and the database must be kept up to date. The inspector shares duties equally with one other Fire Safety Inspector–Buildings. The role is part-time, working 15 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, noting and resolving fire extinguisher conditions, updating databases, submitting work orders, and communicating with building managers. The inspector also assists with the inspection of fire extinguishers, reporting deficiencies, and supporting the Fire Inspector I. Additionally, the role involves coordinating building evacuation drills, including night-time fire drills in residence halls, and assisting the Fire Safety Officer and Specialist with special projects and training events. The inspector is empowered to notify building managers and occupants of code violations, advise on immediate corrections or Facilities Management Service Response tasks, and submit service requests through Planon.
