Fire Protection Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Specialist
About The Position
This position is for a dedicated Fire Protection Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Specialist with a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of fire protection systems. The role involves ensuring the effectiveness of fire safety measures through inspections, maintenance, and proactive measures to guarantee system functionality and regulatory compliance. The specialist will bring a detail-oriented approach, a passion for safety, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise to assess risks, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging stakeholders in maintaining a culture of safety and preparedness. This is a contingent position based upon contract award.
Requirements
- Must be a US or Australian citizen
- Must have a minimum of five years of experience working with fire protection equipment and systems
- Must possess NICET II or NICET III
- Must possess and maintain qualifications in accordance with US DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), or Australian equivalent acceptable to the USG
Nice To Haves
- BA/BS from an accredited institution
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/Poly or Australian PV clearance
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and inspect smoke and fire suppression systems.
- Inspect, test and repair fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels and peripheral equipment.
- Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Inspect, repair or replace smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler heads.
- Repair and test wet/dry systems; test fire alarm system devices using appropriate diagnostic programs and test equipment.
- Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
- Read, interpret, and apply system design plans and building construction drawings and documents.
- Perform true test smoke detector sensitivity procedure.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
