Requirements

  • Possess NICET Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems Level I or Pass NICET Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems Level I exam within 90 days of employment and Pass NICET Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems Level II exam within 180 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform testing and inspection of sprinkler, standpipe, and related water-based fire protection systems per NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and local code standards, noting existing and potential deficiencies.
  • Prepare accurate and timely inspection, service, and flow test reports.
  • Perform complete site surveys for potential PM inspections and system changes/modifications, prepare corresponding quotations.
  • Verify and oversee acceptance testing of new sprinkler installations, including hydrostatic, flushing, and trip tests.
  • Troubleshoot deficiencies in sprinkler systems, valves, fire pumps, hydrants, and backflow preventers.
  • Perform pre-testing and final inspections for assigned projects in coordination with GC, AHJ, and owners.
  • Develop and perform PITCO (Pre-Inspection Testing and Check-Out) activities for sprinkler systems prior to final acceptance.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, main drain tests, fire pump performance checks, and water supply evaluations.
  • Create redline drawings of sprinkler layouts and riser details for as-built preparation.
  • Complete job-related documentation including Reports of Completion (ROC), Test Forms, Flow Test Records, and Deficiency Lists.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable NFPA codes, UFC, GSA P-100, insurance, and local AHJ requirements.
  • Conduct research using NFPA standards, manufacturer installation manuals, and technical data sheets to determine material requirements, installation procedures, and system upgrades.
