Fire Protection Engineering Intern - SUMMER 2027
About The Position
Summer Consultants is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work on building-systems projects, primarily renovations involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. The intern will gain hands-on industry experience, work with experienced engineers, and contribute to varied projects shaped by existing building conditions and operational constraints. Responsibilities may include surveying existing conditions, analyzing life safety, and laying out fire alarm and fire suppression systems, as well as helping address client challenges. The role offers exposure to Revit, AutoCAD, and hydraulic calculation software, and may include fieldwork at client sites.
Requirements
- Have completed two years toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to conduct day-long field surveys indoors and outdoors, in conditioned and unconditioned spaces.
- Ability to walk up to 10,000–20,000 steps in a day and to climb up and down a 6-foot ladder, kneel, squat, and bend.
- Ability to obtain site access at client locations.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
