About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with one to three years of working experience for its Scottsdale, Arizona office. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team and contribute to client projects while developing professionally. The role provides fire protection engineering and life-safety services, including system design, code and egress analysis, fire-resistant construction and smoke-control analysis, special inspections, and related research.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related science from an accredited college or university.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.
• At least one year of working experience in fire protection engineering consulting.
• General knowledge of building construction.
• Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Intermediate computer skills for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and computer-aided drafting; fire protection engineers should have working knowledge of fire dynamic simulation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on a high-functioning team.
• Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify basic fire protection systems without continuous oversight.
• Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
• Provide consulting services to internal clients using fire protection engineering expertise, including automatic suppression systems; fire detection, alarm, and communication systems; code and egress analysis; fire-resistant construction; smoke control; and general fire protection and life-safety concepts and research.
• Contribute positively to office and department goals, culture, and morale.
• Work independently and as part of a team, while managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
