About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of intermediate-level technical and administrative tasks to support the Fire Department's operations. This role involves assisting with accreditation processes, training programs, data management, and general departmental functions. The employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years of experience in fire service, which may include roles such as firefighter, fire inspector, fire investigator, or other related emergency response positions.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or any valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.

  • General knowledge of fire department operations, procedures, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of the accreditation and/or training processes within a fire service environment.
  • Knowledge of the geography of Statesville, as well as laws and ordinances of the city and state.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, documentation tools, and modern office equipment and computers.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, staff, and supervisors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and technical support across multiple divisions, including training, accreditation, and general operations.
  • Assists with data collection, recordkeeping, and documentation for departmental programs and projects.
  • Assists the Accreditation Manager and/or Training Officer by maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and ensuring adherence to applicable standards.
  • Contributes to training initiatives by aiding in the development and delivery of training programs for department personnel.
  • Performs basic research, compiles data, and helps prepare presentations or reports for management review.
  • Coordinate meetings, special events, and departmental projects.
  • Ensures that files, documentation, and databases are properly organized and kept current.
  • Provides general office support, facilitating communication with internal staff, external agencies, and the public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
