Under direction from NYRA Management, the Emergency Response Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and New York State Building Codes as they pertain to fire safety. The Fire Marshal/EMT works to prevent and suppress fires, performs Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) emergency service work in the field, and responds to all emergency situations—exercising judgment and initiative to control and resolve incidents. NYRA’s objective is to prevent and minimize injury, loss of life, and property damage in all emergencies and fire situations. Respond promptly to medical emergencies, accidents, and injuries within the racing facility. Assess patients' conditions, provide basic life support interventions, and stabilize them for further medical care. Must be able to work all weekends during the summer race meet. You must be able to remain on your feet for extended periods, with extensive walking and stair use. You must have no fear of horses and be comfortable working in large crowd venues.
