About The Position

Johnson Controls Fire Protection, LP seeks a Fire Installer V to install, program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm systems, access control, and CCTV systems, as well as other related building system products at customer sites. This includes panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles, and testing. The role involves focusing on networked fire alarm systems and programming fire alarm, security, and access control system panels. The installer will perform installation/programming on integrated security and fire alarm systems, respond to customer service calls, and participate in an after-hours service program. Responsibilities include communicating with central dispatch, reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams, inspecting equipment installations, completing certification courses, and submitting required documentation. The position requires applying functional area skills, judgment, and research to resolve problems. The installer will also identify out-of-scope requests and follow up with RFIs, assist customers with questions, and communicate project status to management.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Fire Installer, Fire Alarm Technician, or related occupation involving Fire Alarm and other low voltage systems.
  • Employment experience with Simplex programming software to include 4007/4100ES programmer, Network Programmer, and TSW Configurator.
  • Advanced knowledge of custom control programming via SMPL language.
  • Coordinating project activities with other trades at the work locations to optimize installation time.
  • Utilization and application of industry related equipment including fiber testers and other network tools, audibility testing equipment, digital multimeters, and software-based tools.
  • Experience with electronic sprinkler pre-action and agent releasing systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to program or experience with programming low voltage systems including fire alarm, nurse call, access control, security, CCTV, and clocks.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm systems, access control and CCTV systems as well as other related building system products at customer sites.
  • Perform panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles and testing.
  • Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Focus on networked fire alarm systems and also involve in the programming of fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
  • Perform installation/programming on integrated security and fire alarm systems.
  • Respond to customer service calls in a timely and efficient manner, troubleshoot and repair as needed.
  • Participate in after-hours service program.
  • Communicate with central dispatch on current work order status and receive updates on outstanding customer issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
  • Inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer and contract specifications.
  • Complete necessary certification courses on internal and external products used.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Apply functional area skills and knowledge including underlying professional/technical principles or standards.
  • Apply judgment based on practice and precedence.
  • Resolve problems through research of multiple alternatives.
  • Perform and/or support the installation of fire related and/or other building systems products.
  • Identify out of scope requests by the contractor or customer and be able to follow it up with RFIs with suggested solutions.
  • Assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate project status to management.
  • Complete all appropriate company paperwork as required.
