The Portables Support Technician is responsible for assisting in the inspection, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire protection equipment. This position is designed to provide hands-on training under direct supervision. The role will support experienced team members while learning applicable codes, standards, and safe work practices related to fire and life safety systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No minimum experience required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving role).
  • Must be willing to learn and be a self-starter.
  • Must have a stable work history.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environments including commercial, industrial, and construction settings.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspection and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment under direct supervision.
  • Support senior technicians with service tasks including tagging, documentation, and basic compliance checks.
  • Learn and follow NFPA standards, company procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed as directed.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in the field.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and needs.
  • Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
