About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining and servicing fire equipment, ensuring compliance with standards and codes, and providing excellent customer service. The technician will manage inventory, perform installations, respond to service calls, and contribute to the growth of the Fire Equipment department.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience desired
  • NAFED certification
  • Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to policies and procedures and helps update and improve them
  • Maintains accurate records through portable electronic devices
  • Ensures inventory load is adequately maintained in the shop
  • Charging and swapping of fire extinguishers when required
  • Determines most efficient and productive service routes
  • Performs inspections and maintains portable fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and pre-engineered fire equipment systems
  • Closes each customer visit by reviewing paperwork, the work that was completed, and any deficiencies
  • Provides completed reports, customer information and all necessary paperwork
  • Maintains awareness and is fluent with standards and codes pertaining to the systems
  • Maintains upkeep of company vehicles, tools and equipment
  • Installs portable fire extinguishers and emergency lighting in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manages indirect labor hours including maintaining vehicles, administrative tasks, and communication with the shop and office staff.
  • Responds rapidly to service calls.
  • Contributes to the growth of the Fire Equipment department by providing excellent customer service, developing positive customer relationships, and offering all of Ahern’s Fire Protection Services
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
